So long purple casts!

It's time to say goodbye to the purple casts. We head out at 4:30am tomorrow morning for a cast change. Hard to believe it's been 2 weeks already.

Many have asked me recently how life is going with Katee's casts. Honestly, the first few days were quite difficult, but the casts have become a normal part of life and are not bad at all. Katee is learning how to maneuver in them, is sleeping better, and they just aren't a big deal.

They still frustrate her at times (and she lets me know it!), but this girl is resilient and determined. I'm pretty confident she is handling those casts much better than I would.

So long purple casts! I hope you aren't full of dirt and flour . . . that would be embarrassing. ;) I tried to be very careful, but have let Katee play outside, bake, and do what she wants (except for taking a bath). The next casts will hopefully be red to ring in Chinese New Year and Katee's 2nd birthday.

A few other miscellaneous happenings:
Chocolate play dough
Katee was kinda crabby that first week in casts, so we generally stayed home and I planned lots of fun things for the kids to do.

The chocolate and vanilla play dough was a big hit with all three. Chocolate play dough is fun for Valentines Day and the recipe can be found here. For the vanilla play dough, I just added vanilla flavoring and sprinkles to my regular play dough recipe.

Curls

Calla is our wiggle worm. Getting her hair done in the mornings is not on her list of favorite activities, so it generally is just quickly pulled back into a pony tail or pig tails. However, this morning she wanted it curled! So cute.

I wondered when her birthday was. And as a mom of 2 kids who have had 3 casts b/w them for less valid reasons. It is amazing how they learn to adapt to them and life just goes on as normal and they see hardly bothered by it. Also, maybe you are doing this, but I would take an old or new sock of Chad's and put it over the cast when we went outside or when they ate (broken arms) so it stayed cleaner. Also, prepare yourself for the stank. Just sayin. HA!

I'm glad to hear things have gone well so far with the casting. Katee looks adorable in her little casts! Of course, she looks adorable all the time:) And that's a very sweet picture of Calla.

Will be praying for you in this next step, sweet girl! So happy your Mama is keeping us updated, for I know she is super busy!

Your big sister looks beautiful with her curls! :) Someday she will probably be curling your hair... that's what me and my little sister used to do. ;)

Blessings, hugs, and prayers for you and your family!
