On: Monday, October 22, 2012

The past several days have been a whirlwind of goodness.

Plane tickets researched and bought.
Hotel in Beijing booked.
Visit to Katee's group foster home scheduled. (This will be life changing. I cannot wait.)
Suitcases borrowed.
Packing started.
Blessed by an amazing shower for Katee/foster home.

This is really happening. After over a year of paperwork and waiting, we will be boarding a plane to Beijing the morning of November 7th. We will arrive in Katee's province on the 10th and will hold her in our arms on November 12th. We will return home on Thanksgiving Day.

THREE WEEKS FROM TODAY Katee will be ours. Please pray those arms will be reaching for her mama and baba and that she would attach to us quickly and trust us. We are asking for wisdom in how to parent and bond with Katee.

Please pray for sweet Katee as she comes to mind. At some point in the very near future she will be removed from her loving foster home and returned to her orphanage to wait for us to come. Everything she knows is going to be taken away. We expect she will grieve hard as she is very attached to her nanny.

Adoption is a beautiful and life changing thing, but it comes with so much pain and loss. I'm thankful God is a father to the fatherless and that every detail of Katee joining our family rests in God's loving hands.

oh I am so happy for your family as you finally have travel plans. I am also an adoptive mom and it bring me joy that you are aware of the pain adoption can have already. I was a younger more naive mom when we adopted. ( we adopted first and then the bio's came along) and even though I tried to prepare I really was not prepared. So I guess it would be better to say that you are more prepared than I was and that is a good thing. I will be in prayer for you and your husband that God will fill you with him perfect peace while you are there. Pray over her while there, love her, sing to her, and back over here in Indiana I will be praying for you. I am filled with joy for you for your family and for Katee. I also will be in prayer for Ori and little Calla as she is used to being your "little girl" and now will have to adjust to her new role of "big sister" and middle child ...overnight. I will be lifting you up in prayer! Would it be possible to have your address?
