We started our adoption with pretty much nothing "extra" in the bank. We had no idea how we would afford the $25,000+ price tag attached to adoption, but knew we had to obey God's call for our family . . . and it has been amazing to see His faithful hand provide for our daughter.
Last week was discouraging. Ian's car needed thousands of dollars of repair, and we spent our entire tax refund plus most of our emergency fund to fix it. I felt like we were stripped of any monetary security we had. It was a scary feeling, and we wondered how we would fund the rest of our adoption. It brought me back to my knees asking God to provide the remainder of our adoption expenses. It was good to be dependent on Him instead of coasting along. I remembered all the times He provided adoption money from unexpected sources at the exact time we needed it. He is faithful.
Yesterday I got the mail and noticed a letter from "Show Hope." I didn't know what to expect, but had been praying we would receive a Show Hope adoption assistance grant. Well . . . we did!!! And it is the amount of our tax return that we had to use to fix a car instead of for adoption. Thank you, Jesus, for providing for our daughter!! We rejoice and stand amazed at His goodness. We are now just a few thousand dollars shy of our goal (not exactly sure how much travel will cost). Our little one will be joining her forever family thanks to the support of our friends, family, and Show Hope.
Show Hope is pretty special to me. Our daughter is currently sponsored monthly by generous Show Hope donors. In fact, her first sponsor gave her an American name, which we are keeping.
Here is a little video about one ministry of Show Hope:
We are forever thankful for this ministry and the role they have played in our lives.
We have waited 42 days for our acceptance letter from China (I counted wrong last time I reported it. oops.). I am hoping we are in the 70 day range instead of the 90, but we will see.
These two are pretty excited for their sister to come home. And so are their parents.
