St. Patricks Day

On: Thursday, March 17, 2011

We spent our morning with a mom who just took her 24 weeker home a month or so ago. I could have cuddled that little baby all day--oxygen cords, monitor and all. I love spending time with these women; it's been an unexpected blessing after Calla's hospital stay to be able to share with them, listen to their struggles, offer encouragement and love, and hopefully be a blessing in their lives.

After a quick lunch at home, we made Pot of Gold Cupcakes and then headed outside to play, play, play.

Calla found the dirt. She threw it in the air and then went for more. I think she might be just like her brother (who often seems to want to be like her . . . crawling? Seriously?)

Ori loves this month's sensory tub. It is filled with gold coins, lima beans, and split green peas. I also made some green shamrocks out of felt, but they are not shown (didn't want them to blow away in the wind).

This is one of the little moments that made me smile really big today. Ori saw Papa's truck, ran over to it, plopped down in the grass, and just stared at it. The boy's brain is filled with dreams of driving truck and farming.

Calla didn't so much care for the truck, but decided to roll around in the grass. It's all about new sensory experiences for her, I tell you. She keeps me busy, but makes me laugh all the time.

Lots and lots of exploring for little Calla

and even a little somersaulting for Ori.

Life is good at Breezy Acres.

Looks like you all had a great day! Are you apart of some kind of support program for NICU moms? That's great that you can connect with those other moms and answer questions and encourage them, like you said.

wish we could've spent the day with you! looks like so much fun...do the sensory tub beans come out of your grocery budget?
the cupcakes are adorable!

Marie--Yes, I joined a support program through Wesley. I love it.

Mindy--Yes, the beans come out of grocery. Those peas are only 73 cents a bag. Really cheap this month. ;)

I made cupcakes too! They're just in shamrock wrappers though. No cute rainbows. The only reason we had all that cool fruit for the rainbow is because Target had 5 cent kiwis, 1.99 cuties, and 1.79 raspberries. Sophie immediately pointed out that we were missing blue when I served her the snack. I told her blueberries were too expensive. :) I wish we could have spent the day together!

I love that Calla rolls in the grass, and Ori is so cute with his love of tractors.

I love that both of your kids love to roll around in the grass...I'm always reminding myself that "a little dirt is ok" haha!

Have you heard of g2g ouside (got to get outside)? It's an organization out of Wichita/Sedgwick county that offers all kinds of free outdoor activities throughout the year. We love it! I follow their blog and get updates through e-mail about upcoming events - lots of good stuff for sensory learners/lovers!

How I wish my daughter wouldn't mind a little dirt! We're getting there, though. Love the pot of gold cupcakes! What a cute idea!
