I will definitely be ready to get out of this house tomorrow for Calla's monthly doctor's appointment. I'll probably go to Target too, so that will make it fun, right? Even with two small children? :)
It is good for me to stop and focus on the good things.

Like this little girl.

Calla brings great joy to our home. I seriously cannot stop squeezing her. She always smiles. Always.

She also started "talking" this past week (the day after the speech therapist visited . . .weird). We were concerned about her delayed speech, but apparently she is just still catching up. The speech therapist was not worried at all. It is so sweet to finally hear her make sounds.

Ori recently showed great interest in outer space. He probably knows more about the planets than I do.

Yesterday we made a rocket using a paper towel roll. Ori decorated the foil with stickers and googly eyes (could use markers too) and then we taped it together.

He loves it.

He also spends a lot of time playing in his space sensory tub (idea from here).

It's a hit, for sure. He now knows all about astronauts, moon Rovers, and Ham the space monkey.

This is where Ori is right now. I should probably go check on him. It's been almost an hour . . . he loves the snow!
Have a wonderful day!

I too have been overwhelmed, tired, and in need of God to change my attitude!
I hope Ian gets feeling better!
I love your blog and all of your ideas.
I'm sure you've heard of this idea, but I wanted to share anyway.
We made a rocket a few weeks ago and my little guy LOVED it! Just take an old film canister (if these even still exist???) and wrap it upside down with paper. Add a cone to the top to make it a rocket shape.
Now the best part is to fill the canister with water about 1/3 of the way. Then drop in a 1/2 piece of an alka-seltzer tablet. Turn it over, step back, and count down! Ours blasted all the way to the ceiling!
We did it over and over again. Lots of fun!
Not that he's ready for this, but since there are only 3 more shuttle launches, you can get his (and Calla's) name flown in a mission. Once the mission is back, you can print out a certificate. It's on the nasa.gov site - sorry I don't have the exact link :(
You should ask Brian Siriwardena when he began to talk!
praying you have a good weekend! hugs....
that last messge (Janlee) was from me...didn't realize my mom was signed in through my account...lol
Your sick husband is a middle of the night blog stalker. It makes me very happy to read. Happy enough to maybe go back to sleep. I'm sorry I'm not able to help much right now, but you are doing a great job Julie. Sick husbands are pretty worthless.
1. What is Ori learning about Pluto? Planet or not?
2. Cool tub.
3. Can't believe he can play by himself outside for that long. LUCKY!
4. Hope Ian feels better tomorrow and that you all stay healthy.
5. Calla's smile is amazing!!!! I love her and her wornout boots. ;)
Wishing you an uneventful week next week.
The sensory tub looks like so much fun.
Sorry about the rough week :(
I'm going to have to agree, Calla can make any bad day brighter.
Hope Ian gets better soon!!
And I love Ori's plastic covered shoes ;)
target is prescription for happiness! I am so sad we don't have one in Canada...yet....
Please tell what the blue space rocks inteh tub are- a great idea!
The blue rocks are aquarium rocks. I just got them from Wal-Mart's pet department. They are pretty tiny--I'm not sure if some aquarium rocks are bigger; that would be ideal.
